About me
Eigenbrode (ˈaɪ̯ɡənˌbroːdə) German, “one’s own bread” — (1) one who tinkers with their rye recipe even though their hamlet has a perfectly good bakery (2) according to family lore, a gentle insult in some parts of Germany for those who prefer to walk a bit out of step
Big ol’ chunks of my heart are scattered all over the planet, especially in Moscow, Idaho; Ithaca, New York; and Quito, Ecuador. These days, I do most of my writing and marveling from my desk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but if you can’t find me there, try checking the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Oriental Theatre, a Sturgeon Protectors event, or the cello section of the Milwaukee Community Orchestra.
I’m a registered member of the IWW Freelance Journalists Union.
I’m disproportionately proud of these title slides from the Urban Ecology Center’s Backyard Naturalist lecture series. Enjoy!
